The MidModern woman is expertly dressed for any occasion. Head to toe perfection. The appearance of glam level fuss, yet with unquestionable effortlessness. At all times.
Audrey. Grace. Liz.
Although Audrey Hepburn is undoubtedly best known for her iconic (can you say, understatement?) LBD in the 1961 film, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, her off camera looks ooze ease. Boyish short locks, figure flattering knits, the perfect fitted ankle pants, and minimal accessories skillfully pulled together in monochromatic heaven. GO TO!
Now, Cinderella? Where? Has there been a chicer princess? Granted, being a royal does call for a more conservative look, Grace Kelly nails it. Her personal style maintained all the glam of an actress with the sophistication of a businesswoman. Tailored jackets paired with the perfect skirt, always.
The above two being the most relatable style inspirations.
But if I may, end with a bang? When one must go all out, I urge one goes Taylor.
Her heart may have wandered, but Elizabeth Taylor was not at all confused about what worked for her in the fashion department. Jewel tones, luxurious fabrics, prom style silhouettes. Supreme festive, special occasion wear. Always the star, and eternally glamorous.
Also a fan? Oscar winning actress Lupita Nyongo most recently confessed to Vanity Fair (September 2014) that two of her “Style Icons” were Elizabeth Taylor and Audrey Hepburn. I am sure we can all agree that great minds think alike.
To quote Ralph Lauren, “Fashion is over quickly. Style is forever.”
